Friday Jams (Funky Bubbleguts Edition)

Hunter and I are doing the Bubbleguts thing tonight at Shine from 11 till 2. Come out and party, but bring comfortable shoes, cause we're playin deep funk breaks for one of our sets. Gonna be lots of hard drums and some quick mixes. We're also gonna do the usual long/smooth blends on our hip-hop sets, but we're taking it back to the bronx in the 80s (before there were hip-hop records) for an hour tonight. For today's Friday Jams post, I figured I'd give you a preview of some of the breaks we are going to use tonight.

One of my favorite jams (and a new-school break) is a cover of Planet Rock by Breakout. Such a great 7" with two different versions of the Zulu Nation classic. Here's Part 2:

And here's the super-funky (and oft sampled) Hector pt. 2 by The Village Callers. Another great 7" with alternate versions of the same jam on either side:

Also, here's The Hidden Cost (of the MFSB family) with Bo Did It:

Lastly, here's The Highlighters Band with The Funky 16 Corners:
