People I Steez With

This is Gina. I met her back when we both lived here freshmen year here. She's moving back home to this state today so she can go to school and become a nurse. Gina's super funny, smart, sweet, and obviously can do some entertaining things with a plastic cup. We'll miss you girl.

Evil Dee Is on the Mix (C'Mon Kick It)

I'm always giving props to DJ Premier (best of mixtape still to come... sorry for the delay), but I think I should recognize DJ Evil Dee. For those who don't know, he's a member of Da Beatminerz production crew and Black Moon as a producer and DJ (simliair to Primo and Gang Starr). He also used to record at D&D Studios along with Primo (who now owns the studio and uses it exclusively for his label Year Round Records). Basically, if you're down with Primo, you need to recognize Evil Dee. Peep game:

New Spot + Cool Roomates = Big Things

Since moving into my new spot on the peninsula, I've been doing it pretty big. Got and MP3 player from the library for starting this blog, bought a bike (picture to come later), started skating again, and been steady cooking meals to save money. My roomates are chill, they got nice friends, and I'm pretty excited to go home to FTL on friday. Overall, big shit poppin... youknowwhatimtalkinbout

Big Things Poppin at the Library

This Saturday, Dec. 15th at 1:00 pm, the Main Library branch (68 Calhoun St.) is hosting the first of a series of opera performances. If you haven't already heard about it, we just installed an HD receiver as well as a 7.1 digital surround sound system in our auditorium. The opera performance is a simulcast of the New York Metropolitan Opera's production of Gounod's Romeo et Juliette. What that means is while the performance is happening at the best opera house in America, it is being beamed live to us in the library via satellite in high definition with digital surround sound. It should be a great experience and a wonderful debut for a series of performances I am super excited about.

I am by no means an opera fan, but I've seen a few performances live and even more recorded performances on DVD and CD. I'll be at the library as an usher/projectionist, so if you are interested, come check it out this Saturday at 1:00 pm.

Did I mention it's FREE?

People I Steez With

This is Emily. I met her back in Clemson. She's a karaoke champ. I can't tell you how many times the word "classy" has been used to describe this girl. I met her fam this weekend, and I think it runs in the genes. Hold your head, E Bar... we love you.

We'll Miss You, Pimp C

Last night, Pimp C died in his hotel room. It's a shame because this dude just got out of jail and had a number 1 album (as 1/2 of UGK). We'll miss you, pimp (c). Here's a video that someone made with some Sims-type animation of International Players Anthem... hope it makes you laugh and cheers you up.

I'm All About Seeing This Movie

Just found out about the new Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, all those cool White Stripes videos) movie Be Kind Rewind. Looks pretty good. Maybe do some reading/watching/research and get ready to laugh... I really can't stress how much I'm down for this one (hopefully it will eclipse the bullshit that was The Science of Sleep). Interested? Here's the trailer:
