Big Things Poppin at the Library

This Saturday, Dec. 15th at 1:00 pm, the Main Library branch (68 Calhoun St.) is hosting the first of a series of opera performances. If you haven't already heard about it, we just installed an HD receiver as well as a 7.1 digital surround sound system in our auditorium. The opera performance is a simulcast of the New York Metropolitan Opera's production of Gounod's Romeo et Juliette. What that means is while the performance is happening at the best opera house in America, it is being beamed live to us in the library via satellite in high definition with digital surround sound. It should be a great experience and a wonderful debut for a series of performances I am super excited about.

I am by no means an opera fan, but I've seen a few performances live and even more recorded performances on DVD and CD. I'll be at the library as an usher/projectionist, so if you are interested, come check it out this Saturday at 1:00 pm.

Did I mention it's FREE?
